What is Organic Omega 3:6:9 Balance Oil?

We have combined cold-pressed unrefined organic flax seed oil with fresh pressed, organic, unrefined sunflower seed and extra virgin olive oils in a perfect 2:1 balance of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids, with additional omega 9. Many diets today, provide an excess of omega 6 essential fatty acids compared to omega 3 which is thought to be proinflammatory in the body and to contribute to the increase in atherosclerosis, obesity, and diabetes. This imbalance in intake of essential fats is thought to be due to the effects of modern agricultural practices which has decreased the omega-3 fatty acid content in many foods and diets high in processed, refined foods. Fatty acids make up the membranes of every cell in the body and produce hormone like substances called prostaglandins which have anti-inflammatory effects and are important for many biological processes, including energy metabolism. The plant omega 3, alpha linolenic acid converts to EPA and DHA which are needed for a healthy heart and brain, whilst linoleic acid from oils such as starflower and sunflower, converts to GLA which is believed to be important for healthy hormone balance.
